Dental & Vision Plans
Here at Yeatman Insurance Services, we help you plan for all your health needs.
Dental & Vision Plans for Medicare Beneficiaries
These plans are called “ancillary plans” and serve as a supplemental or secondary coverage in addition to one’s primary health plan. Yeatman Insurance Services understands the importance of having dental, vision and hearing plans that provide financial assistance and peace of mind. We will help you quickly find the right plans for you.
Options for Additional Dental & Vision Coverage
Dental and vision coverage is essential for seniors. There are generally three options for Medicare beneficiaries who want ancillary coverage:
Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage): Many Medicare Advantage plans include dental and vision benefits. Dental plans may include preventive coverage only (i.e., cleanings, x-rays and exams). Some include preventive and comprehensive. These plans may be embedded (included at no additional cost) or the plan may charge a monthly premium, especially for PPO dental plans.
Advantage plans often include vision care (i.e., eye exams, glasses, and contact lenses) including reduce or no-cost exams as well as an allowance for lenses and frames.
You can review dental and vision coverage included in Advantage plans during the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP), which runs annually from October 15th to December 7th.
Standalone Dental & Vision Plans: Standalone plans can be purchased separately from other Medicare coverage any time during the year. There is a wide range of coverage options and carriers. Most important is to take advantage of the contracted pricing using the plan’s network of contracted dentists. This pricing is often lower than cash pricing!
Dental & Vision Discount Plans: These are not insurance plans, but they can offer reduced rates on dental and vision services through a network of participating providers. Discount plans can be purchased any time during the year. These plans provide savings on routine care and treatments; however, they do not offer insurance coverage or financial protection.

What to Consider When Choosing a Dental & Vision Plan
Like other coverage, knowing your options and comparing plans to find your best fit is crucial. Here are key factors we will consider together:
Evaluate Your Needs: Whether you’re considering a Medicare Advantage plan with dental and vision benefits or standalone insurance plans, we will compare them thoroughly to ensure a) the plan you choose includes the services you need and b) you have access to your preferred providers.
Waiting Periods: Some plans have waiting periods before your full benefits start; we’ll be sure to factor this into your timeline for care.
Review Benefits: We will review how dental and vision plans work (i.e.: the benefits and potential network savings). Whether you’re considering a Medicare Advantage plan with dental and vision benefits or standalone insurance plans, we will compare them thoroughly to ensure a) the plan you choose includes the services you need and b) you have access to your preferred providers.
Review Costs: We will consider the anticipated costs associated with each plan option to see how the plan will fit into your overall healthcare budget. This includes premiums, copayments, and other out-of-pocket
When to Enroll in Dental & Vision Plans
If your ancillary plan is included in an Advantage or Supplement plan, you must use the election periods and enrollment guidelines associated with those plans to add, change or drop coverage.
Stand-alone plans may be purchased or cancelled any time during the calendar year. Plan changes may be requested prior to the plan’s annual renewal.
Discount plans can be purchased at any time and are usually annual contracts one can drop at the end of the pre-paid plan year.
